Emma Watson thinks her co-star Michelle Williams was the perfect choice to channel one of Hollywood’s most famous leading ladies and sex symbols in My Week with Marilyn. “I was amazed at how much I saw of Marilyn in her [Williams],” the 21-year-old actress of Harry Potter fame recently said in an interview provided by The Weinstein Company. “I trusted but until I really got on the set I was like, ‘Wow now I really get it, I really, really get it.”
The film, which is currently in theaters, revolves around the week British writer Colin Clark worked as Laurence Olivier’s assistant during the making of the 1957 movie The Prince and the Showgirl, which starred Monroe and Olivier, who also directed it.
Williams takes on the iconic role as Marilyn Monroe, who died at the young age of 36. “It’s shot beautifully. It’s been made with such thought and consideration and passion and Michelle is giving it everything,” said Watson, who plays Lucy, a girl who works in the wardrobe department of the movie.
She also revealed she was quite attracted to the script of the Monroe biopic calling it “a page turner.”Watson wasn’t the only one amazed at William’s performance. Director Simon Curtis knew that the former Dawson’s Creek star was the right choice to convincingly play the blonde bombshell from the beginning.
